Falling Leaves - October 3-4

The red maple leaves are falling in earnest now - much more so than last week.

Almost all the summer blooms are gone, and even the fall flowers are waning.

Wrinkle-leaved goldenrod

Flat-top white aster

Swamp aster

American aster - still not sure which one

Nodding beggarticks - now I know where it gets the name

Devil's beggarticks

Burr-reed

Cardinal flower just won't give up. There's almost none left, but every week there is a little bit newly blooming:

  1. So pretty! I love that the cardinal flower just keeps going. It matches the tree leaves now! Also your brook looks so inviting, I can imagine it makes a peaceful sound.
